The prospect of developing sweet corn farming is bright, aiming to improve farmers' income, enhance their welfare, and contribute to national revenue. In Sidera Village, farming practices for sweet corn are predominantly conventional, lacking adherence to principles of sustainable development, characterized by the use of inorganic fertilizers and chemical pesticides not in accordance with recommendations. A community engagement program aims to assist farmers in implementing cultivation techniques following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to boost sweet corn production. Specific targets include enhancing farmers' knowledge and skills to increase sweet corn productivity, addressing healthy food provision and income elevation. The program is conducted in Sidera Village, Sigi Biromaru Sub-District, collaborating with the Tunas Sejahtera farmer group as partners. Methods employed encompass training, practical sessions, technology package demonstrations, pilot plots, participatory mentoring, and coaching. Training covers standardized corn cultivation systems, organic granular and liquid fertilizer development, and bio-rational pesticides. Subsequently, practical sessions, demonstrations, and pilot plot cultivation according to SOP are carried out. The program's outcome includes a 40% increase in participants' knowledge and skills in optimal sweet corn cultivation techniques, with pilot plot yields reaching 7 tons/ha of good-quality corn, thus holding significant economic value for community income enhancement.
Usman Made Yohanis Tambing Idham Idham Burhanuddin Haji Nasir Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Community Practice and Social Welfare https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 4 1 01 07 Certification Program for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Products Halal Seafood https://jacips.machung.ac.id/index.php/home/article/view/104
The seafood processing business group in Sukolilo Baru, Kenjeran, Surabaya consists of 43 units. Among these, 29 units are household-scale seafood processing businesses and seafood product retail shops. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, these entrepreneurs are striving to restore their businesses' turnover to pre-pandemic levels. Hence, they require training and mentoring as a follow-up to the community service program previously conducted by the community service team. The achievements of the team's previous community service program include: improved product packaging skills, labeling and branding of products, as well as the issuance of Business Identification Numbers (NIB) and suitability certifications for household-scale businesses to the entrepreneurs. The ongoing community service activities currently include training, mentoring, and halal certification registration. These activities aim to enhance the marketability of the partners' products. The partners in this community service endeavor are residents in the area engaged in seafood processing businesses. Participants are involved in three activities: pre-community service preparation, community service implementation, and post-community service follow-up (monitoring-evaluation). Preparation activities are realized through preliminary studies involving pre-surveys to evaluate the conditions and readiness of the entrepreneurs. Implementation activities include: (1) training on the importance of halal certification, (2) mentoring and practice in filling out halal certificate registration forms using the Si Halal application, BPJPH Kemenag, and (3) evaluation of the process of these activities. This evaluation is conducted to understand the extent of understanding of halal certification for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Margaretha Ardhanari Gratianus Edwi Nugrohadi Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Community Practice and Social Welfare https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 4 1 08 16 Utilizing Ginger Root to Boost Immunity: A Case Study of Kedungkembar Village, Sidoarjo, Indonesia https://jacips.machung.ac.id/index.php/home/article/view/103
The body's immunity plays a crucial role in maintaining health and protecting against infections. One well-known method to enhance the immune system is by consuming herbal remedies, particularly ginger rhizomes. The components gingerol and curcumin found in ginger rhizomes function as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, aiding in combating free radicals. Processing ginger rhizomes into herbal drinks is one form of utilization. The community in Kedungkembar Village hopes that training and processing herbal drinks from ginger rhizomes will help them understand the benefits of these herbal plants and how to process them into herbal drinks. This community service activity consists of three stages. The first stage involves field observations, the second stage includes counseling and lectures on the benefits of ginger and techniques for processing it into herbal drinks. The third stage is a demonstration of training in making herbal drinks from ginger rhizomes. This community service activity has been enthusiastically welcomed by the villagers. Its implementation proceeded smoothly and successfully enhanced the community's skills in processing ginger rhizomes into herbal drinks.
Yani Ambari Dewi Rahmawati Marthy Meliana Arista Wahyu Ningsih Bella Fevi Aristia Irvan Charles Seran Klau Yunita Dyah Kusumaningrum Andira Aulia Fitriyanti Atina Wahdatar Rohmah Firda Intan Maghfiroh Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Community Practice and Social Welfare https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 4 1 17 22 Empowering Guidance Studios to Enhance the Quality of Education for Migrant Children with Learning Monitoring System https://jacips.machung.ac.id/index.php/home/article/view/105
This community service activity responds to issues in Non-Formal Education (NFE) supervised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur. The issues involve: (1) existing curriculum in Guidance Studios, but reliance on inconsistent volunteer instructors is a barrier, and (2) volunteers' lack of understanding of teaching methods and specific policies related to the teaching process in the studios. The objective of this community service activity is to strengthen the capacity of managers to develop work programs and enhance the Learning Studio curriculum with support from a computer-based learning monitoring system. The method involves discussions and training as the basis for developing a system designed to support an appropriate monitoring model, with a user-centered design approach. The outcome of this activity is a prototype monitoring model using mobile devices, enabling instructors at the Guidance Studios and the Local Employment Information System (SIKL) to monitor ongoing learning processes.
Imam Azhari Siwi Purwanti Sri Handayaningsih Safika Maranti Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Community Practice and Social Welfare https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 4 1 23 31 Enhancing Financial Literacy and Financial Guidance for the Self-Sufficient Republik Tani Kopi Mandiri Group in Kucur Village https://jacips.machung.ac.id/index.php/home/article/view/106
Financial reporting is a crucial aspect that every company must possess. Within a business, financial reports serve as the foundation for planning, control, and decision-making. The absence of accurate financial reports can significantly impact performance measurement within a company. Ignorance towards a business's performance is a problem that needs to be addressed. Business growth necessitates a systematic financial system. Republik Tani Kopi Mandiri (RTM) is one of the SMEs facing issues regarding financial reporting and cost of goods sold. Educating and assisting in the preparation of financial reports and cost of goods sold calculations are essential for SMEs, particularly RTM.
Rino Tam Cahyadi Dian Wijayanti Bagas Brian Pratama Yasin Nur Rohim Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Community Practice and Social Welfare https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/ 2024-04-10 2024-04-10 4 1 32 44
